Our programs: the founding curriculum

Five hands-on courses, taught mostly online and backed by in-person instruction in Quito.

Starting small, proving it works

Hineni is a new organization, and we’re building it the right way: starting small, proving it works, and growing from there. Our founding curriculum is five hands-on courses that give a student real, usable trade skills — and a sense of what they’re capable of.

Every student who joins our first cohort works through all five courses. This isn’t a future plan — it’s what we’re teaching right now.

Course 1

5S and workplace organization

Sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain — plus safety. Students learn to organize a workspace for safety, speed, and pride of ownership — the habit that everything else in the shop is built on.

A workstation students can keep organized on their own, and the discipline to sustain it.

Course 2

Line clearance

Safe, standardized changeover between jobs or shifts — clearing a line correctly, verifying it, and documenting the handoff so nothing gets missed.

Confidence running a clean, safe changeover without supervision.

Course 3

Layouts

Reading and producing 2D and 3D shop and part layouts — the drawings that every trade depends on to build things correctly the first time.

Ability to read a layout confidently and produce a basic one from scratch.

Course 4

3D modeling with Onshape

Hands-on CAD instruction in Onshape: building parts, assembling them digitally, and understanding how a design becomes a physical object.

A completed part and assembly model in Onshape, and a working familiarity with modern CAD tools.

Course 5

Troubleshooting fundamentals

Systematic diagnostics: isolating a root problem instead of guessing, reading technical manuals, and logging what was tried and what worked.

A repeatable process for solving problems instead of relying on trial and error.

Coming next: advanced training

As Hineni grows, the founding courses lead to advanced training. The four courses below are planned and not offered yet. Tell us which ones you want, so we know what to build first.

Planned course 6

Six Sigma Yellow Belt

An introduction to Lean Six Sigma: the language, the DMAIC improvement method, and the basic tools for spotting waste and variation.

Ability to take part in an improvement project and use basic problem-solving tools.

Planned course 7

Project management

How to plan, schedule, budget, and deliver a project with a team: scope, timeline, risks, and communication.

Ability to plan a small project from start to finish and keep a team on track.

Planned course 8

Six Sigma Green Belt

Leading improvement projects with data: measuring a process, finding root causes, and testing solutions with the DMAIC method.

Ability to lead an improvement project and show measurable results.

Planned course 9

Six Sigma Black Belt

Advanced methods for leading complex improvement projects across teams, with deeper statistical tools, and coaching others.

Ability to lead complex projects and mentor others in continuous improvement.

Every course is taught with purpose

We teach every Hineni course so students understand that everything they do and learn has a purpose and builds toward their future. A tidy workstation, a careful measurement, a problem solved: each one is a step toward the career and life they are building. Purpose isn’t a separate class. It is how we teach all five.

Students are taken down a road of success, where they develop their skills and gifts and grow personally, bringing wisdom and knowledge rooted in God’s wisdom. The road starts with foundational courses like 5S and, as Hineni grows, will lead to more advanced courses such as Lean Six Sigma. Along the way, students work with mentors who bring expertise across many areas of engineering.

Each certification recognizes a student’s successful completion and shows their mastery of essential knowledge, skills, and competencies. It reflects their dedication to professional growth and excellence, and it brings families, churches, and communities together.

How classes are taught

Most instruction happens online — live sessions and guided practice students can join from home, including the 3D Modeling with Onshape course, which is fully cloud-based.

Alongside that, Hineni instructors travel to Quito for periodic in-person sessions, and students have access to a dedicated Quito Learning Hub — a co-working space with computers and a real room to meet, work hands-on, and build relationships with instructors and each other face to face, not just on a screen.

Building relationships that last

The goal isn’t just finishing five courses. It’s students building real relationships with the instructors who show up in person, and with the companies who partner with Hineni to support this training — companies that get to know these students as they learn, and who benefit directly from a pipeline of young people trained in exactly the skills their shop floor needs.

This is Hineni’s founding curriculum today. As our first cohort completes it, we’ll build the next level on top of what actually worked — not on what we guessed would.
